This paper explores alternative ways that revenue raised through reform could be used to strengthen Australia’s economic security and reduce financial stress. This paper outlines four possible options: investing in public and community housing, increasing the tax-free threshold, strengthening working-age income support payments, and addressing the growing problem of unpayable energy debt. Each option represents a different approach to improving economic security and ensuring that the benefits of tax reform flow to those who need them most.
