Aboriginal Workforce Development Strategy

Anglicare Australia has been on record in the past urging government and business to take the lead role in addressing unemployment for the most disadvantaged. In general, Anglicare Australia is supportive of the strategy, especially as it notes the need for such a plan arose out of the local communities. However, there are still some oversights within the current draft which pertain to ownership, the expression of culture and the interface this agenda has with others aiming to improve productivity and close the gap.

Submission Brief to the draft NDIS 2012 Bill

The development of this draft legislation shows that commitment to the fundamental principles of choice, flexibility, and individualised support has not waivered. Overall, the objects are clear with transparency and accountability strong attributes. There are remaining questions however around the interaction of the terms carer, registered provider and plan nominee.

The once shared vision of how the FSP achieved this end has now evolved down divergent paths. Anglicare Australia providers are keen to maintain the universality of service delivery and engage with the Department on how disadvantage and vulnerability are embedded into service delivery.
