Anglicare Australia’s annual Jobs Availability Snapshot has found that people with barriers to work are being left behind by the job market.
The Snapshot looks at people who have barriers to work, and have been out of work long-term. This year, we found that:
- Entry-level jobs now make up just 11 percent of all vacancies. This is their lowest share in a decade.
- For every entry-level vacancy, there are 39 people on the JobSeeker payment
- Of those, 25 have barriers to work. This is the highest ratio ever recorded by the Snapshot.
Anglicare Australia is calling for an end to for-profit employment services, entry-level job creation, and an urgent increase in JobSeeker and other Centrelink payments.
