2017 National Conference

Stronger Together:

Our Mission in the Marketplace

17-20 September 2017 | Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach | Sydney

Welcome from the Conference Committee Chair

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the 2017 Anglicare Australia National Conference, to be held at the Crowne Plaza at Coogee Beach, from 17-20 September, 2017.

Sydney is Australia’s most populous city, with a population of around five million people. With a vibrancy and multicultural diversity, it is home to around a quarter of Australians and is arguably the most significant economic centre in the nation. Sydney has been described as Australia’s only true “global city”.

Our theme for 2017 is Stronger Together: Our Mission in the Marketplace. As leaders in the community sector we are all well aware of the “marketisation” of our funding models as we move towards a service landscape that is more responsive to the choices of consumers. The pace of change raises deep questions about the mission of Anglicare agencies into the future. To what extent will our mission be disrupted?

On the other hand, the social services sector has a significant place in the market, and this conference will explore ways that we can better work together in service of the most vulnerable Australians. It will focus on ways that we can draw on our strengths, in order to better articulate and live out our mission in Australian society.

As with all of our conferences, delegates will be treated to concurrent sessions from experts from across the Anglicare network; some outstanding keynote addresses; panel discussions and networking opportunities throughout the three days.

The conference opening service will be held at St Nicholas’ Church in Coogee; and our conference dinner will start with a Harbour Cruise, allowing you to take in the beauty of the harbour and of Sydney’s best known cultural icons. The Dinner will be at Luna Park, right next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

So lock this event into your calendars and register now! Reconnect and develop new networks. This is a professional development prospect that will give you the opportunity to share your ideas and experiences, and celebrate your progress and plans for the future.
