Anglicare Australia has made a submission
to the next stage of the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Human Services, the Draft Report into Reforms to Human Services.
The submission warns that proposals for social housing tenants to pay market rent would plunge thousands of people into rental stress. Our analysis shows that this change would create almost no new affordable homes for people in need. And at the same time, it would plunge thousands into rental stress.
Elsewhere, the Commission has recognised government’s responsibility to work with communities to design and deliver services. Anglicare Australia supports that approach, and we hope the Commission will build on this work and support intelligent commissioning.
Anglicare Australia looks forward to the release of the Inquiry’s Final Report.
