Anglicare Australia Conference 2008: Opportunities not Vulnerabilities - An Australian Agenda for Social Inclusion

CONFERENCE THEME

The 2008 Anglicare Australia Conference takes as its theme, Social Inclusion.  The idea of social inclusion, and indeed exclusion, is vitally important in understanding the day to day experiences of the people with whom Anglicare works.  We have received several comments that this year's was the best ever and certainly the liveliness of debate and the number in attendance contributed greatly to this.

It would be impossible to count the numbers of Australians whose lives have been touched by the work, staff and mission of the Anglicare network in that time; however it is fair to say that Anglicare agencies have, and continue to impact upon the Australian landscape of care and social advocacy.

The conference programm offered many opportunities, through our keynote speakers and our workshops, for voices to be heard on these and other issues that exercise our collective consciousness as our 30,000 staff and volunteers serve almost half a million people in ever State and Territory of Australia.  Anglicare Australia would like to say "Thank You" to Anglicare Sydney for co-hosting this conference; for their energy and resourcefulness and, of course, the famous "Sydney Hospitality".
